Securing residency is a key milestone when moving to Dubai. While every situation is different, below is an outline of the typical process and options available.
Choosing the Right Visa
Employment Visa
Sponsored by your employer once you have secured a job in the UAE.Golden Visa
A long-term residency option (5–10 years) for investors, entrepreneurs, and highly skilled professionals.Family Visa
Allows UAE residents to sponsor immediate family members, including spouses and children.Investor Visa

Entry Permit
Your entry permit allows you to legally enter Dubai to begin the residency process. Depending on your nationality and visa type, this may be issued on arrival or arranged in advance.
Medical Fitness Test
All residency applicants must complete a medical fitness test, including blood tests and a chest X-ray, to meet UAE health requirements. This step is mandatory before residency approval.
Emirates ID Registration
Your Emirates ID is your official form of identification in the UAE. It’s required for everyday essentials such as banking, mobile services, tenancy contracts, and access to government platforms. Biometric data, including fingerprints and a photo, will be collected during this stage.
Residency Visa Stamping
Once all requirements are completed and approved, your residency visa is officially stamped in your passport. Marking the final step of the process.
